The house is located on the edge of the historic coastal town of Kalamata. Kalamata is the capital of the Messinian Region in the south of the Peloponnese peninsula, which is considered one of the most beautiful coastal regions of Greece.

Facility

It is the idyllic, peaceful location that leaves one completely at rest from everyday life and although the location is away from the hustle and bustle of the city, it is only a few minutes (5-minute drive) to the historic centre of Kalamata or the sandy beaches (10 minutes). The area is about 25,000 m². Here you will find landscaped areas as well as a traditional olive grove and a fruit and vegetable garden. This garden is also home to a large proportion of the products that the kitchen team freshly harvests and uses for healthy and delicious dishes. Around the house various seats invite you to rest and there is also a large outdoor chess set.

Rooms and furnishing

All rooms are modern, comfortable and furnished to a high standard. You can enjoy a fantastic view of the historic castle of Kalamata and the Mediterranean Sea or the mountain. Floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors lead out to the covered porch with lighting. The details have been carefully thought out: plasma TV with satellite channels, direct dial telephone, Wi-Fi, rooms are all individually air-conditioned, orthopaedic beds, electrically adjustable 100% latex mattresses (Cocomat ™), organic bedding (Cocomat ™), hypoallergenic pillows, Down duvets, spacious wardrobe with clothes lift, mini-fridge, ergonomic furniture (chairs and tables), black out curtains. You are also allowed to bring your own furniture. There is also a daily maid service and a complimentary laundry service for personal attire.

Meals

The all-inclusive offer includes five daily meals or snacks. The dishes are inspired by typical Peloponnesian recipes, a regional form of Mediterranean diet; These are carefully prepared and are tailored to the needs of the guests. Upon request, each guest can also have the doctors and nutritionists create a special, individual nutrition program.

Resident Structure

Of the 35 residents, 2 persons come from Germany, most are Greeks. The facility is suitable for couples, active seniors and also for people with dementia. The offer is varied.

Staff

Most of the nursing staff are from Greece, all speak English. There is a 1: 5 care.

Care

For daily entertainment and as “food for the spirit” much is organized and undertaken in spacious common areas as well as in the open air. There are daily recreational entertainments in the house: board games, puzzles, memory games, crossword puzzles, broadcasting of classic documentary and feature films, as well as football broadcasts on large screens. In addition, there is the common gardening and horticulture on the large garden area. The following classes are offered: cooking courses for local cooking recipes, weekly dance lessons for traditional dances, courses for the production of personal care products (such as soap) from natural raw materials. With the own minibus one can drive into the centre or to the sea. Daily exercise routines and walks are on the programme.

Medical care

The state hospital of Kalamata is a 15-minute drive from the house. A private ambulance is available. A daily medical supervision by the in-house specialist doctors in the field of pathology / geriatrics and neurology is offered, as well as regular consultations with the psychologist, 24 hour nursing readiness and supervision by technically trained nursing staff. Physiotherapy, exercise baths and aqua gym are available.

Costs

A place costs between 2200 € to 3350 € monthly. Depending on the degree of care, the German long-term care funds will pay part of the nursing care costs from € 316 in Grade 2 to € 901 in Grade 5 care. The treatment costs will be covered by the German health insurance scheme. Short-term care, preventive care, holiday dialysis and independent living offered.
