Dom Perić is located on the outskirts of Zagreb in a quiet residential area. In the instant closeness are pharmacies, supermarkets, and cafés. Zagreb can be reached by plane from Munich in just one hour. Zagreb’s beautiful old town with its cathedral and the pedestrian area invite you to go for a stroll and shopping.
The new facility, which opened in 2019, has 58 rooms on three floors. All floors are accessible by a large elevator. The house is remarkably contemporary furnished, and designed. The dedicated director is herself an experienced gerontologist and attaches great importance to activities and health. There is a fitness center and a health bar in the house, which residents also visit. In the place, there are also the kitchen, the laundry, and a doctor’s office. All rooms have a beautiful glazed balcony with an unobstructed view of the surroundings. You find a large cozy living room on the ground floor, where meals are served, and the entertainment program takes place.
Rooms and furnishing
The 24 rooms are all furnished in a very modern and chic way. Each room is equipped with a modern electric care bed, a bedside table, a table with two chairs, a double wardrobe, and a sideboard. The bathroom is modern and suitable for the disabled. The television set installed in the room also provides German channels. WIFI is freely available everywhere. The house offers a telephone for free telephony. Each room has a lovely glazed balcony with an incredible view.
All dishes are prepared in the in-house kitchen. The menu offers delicious local dishes. There is a large selection for breakfast.
The majority of the 58 seniors are from Croatia but often have German language skills since they lived in Germany. The facility can care for all seniors except those with severe dementia who tend to run away.
Twenty-five friendly employees partly speak German and care for the wellbeing of the elderly. The team also includes a physiotherapist and an occupational therapist. They organize the daily care program.
An occupational therapist and a physiotherapist organize the daily employment program. Painting, handicrafts, but also cozy breakfasts are part of the program. A specialty is the in-house fitness center. The therapists do gymnastics there with the seniors of the house. Excursions to the old town of Zagreb or to watch golf in the neighboring golf course are offered.
A family doctor comes to his practice in the facility twice a week. There are several clinics nearby. A pharmacy delivers all of the necessary medication. The German health insurance covers the treatment costs as per the European Agreement.
A place costs between €1250 and €1600 per month, a couple of apartment costs €1500. This includes all services such as daily individual physical therapies, two participations in joint exercises (gymnastics) in the morning and afternoon, daily monitoring of vital functions, laundry, room cleaning, and so on, already included. The German long-term care insurance companies cover part of the nursing costs. Depending on the degree of care, the care allowance ranges from €316 in Care level 2 to €901 in Care grade 5.
