The Gold Apartments complex is located in the climatic health resort of Sopron, the second most monument-rich city in Hungary. Sopron is located directly on the Austrian border. From there you can reach Vienna in just one hour and Lake Neusiedl in 30 minutes. Sopron itself has a lot to offer. It has the most beautiful old town, with cafés, shops and pretty streets for relaxing strolls. For relaxing day, you can visit the famous thermal baths of Balf, which are only a mere 7km away. It is very easy to reach Sopron by public transport as it has a local train station with a direct line to Vienna.
The building, built in 2010, has 4 floors and is completely barrier-free. The facility offers 46 designed apartments for 75 seniors. There is a centrally located, large, bright and friendly common room on the ground floor. Here the residents dine, celebrate, or just have coffee together. In front of it is the lobby, which invites you to linger with its open and bright design. The roof terrace with a view of Sopron and the summer terrace by the swimming pool complete the diverse common spaces offered at the facility.
Rooms and furnishing
The 46 apartments are between 18 m² and 40 m² in size. There are 1-room apartments and 2-room apartments. Everyone has a nice balcony looking to the south. They have heating and air conditioning; a handicapped accessible bathroom; a kitchenette with a stove, sink and fridge; and fitted wardrobes. Otherwise, you are free to bring your own furniture to make yourself feel at home. The facility can organise for the furniture to be transported for a small fee. German-language television programs and WiFi are available.
All three daily meals are freshly prepared and served in the restaurant. On request, meals can be taken in the room. Three different lunch menus are offered on the menu and there are vegetarian and dietary food options.
The 75 senior citizens are mainly from Hungary; however, there are many Austrian and German seniors in the facility as well. Seniors with different conditions are looked after in the facility. The only exception are seniors with pronounced dementia.
40 friendly staff, some of whom speak German, take care of the elderly. A 1 to 4 care guaranteed. The management team, which is very professional and enthusiastic, has been working for the facility since August of 2019.
The house has a family atmosphere. Getting to know each other and bringing people together is very important here. There are daily activities such as singing, handicrafts and creative courses. Birthday’s are celebrated in groups once every month. The house is decorated seasonally with the participation of the seniors. Other activities include daily fitness programmes in the gym and evening gatherings where the seniors can share stories and photographs.
The family doctor visits the home twice a week. The nearest clinic is in Sopron. A pharmacy delivers all of the necessary medication. The treatment costs are covered by the German health insurance as per the European Agreement.
Depending on the size of the room and the level of care, a single place costs between € 1300 and € 2,600. The German long-term care insurance companies cover part of the nursing costs. Depending on the degree of care, the amount of the care allowance ranges from € 316 in Care level 2 to € 901 in Care level 5.
