Cugat Residencial
Spain, Barcelona

Cugat Residencial is located in Vilanova, 20 km south of Barcelona and is also easily accessible by train from Barcelona. The 3-storey building is located directly on the natural beach by a beautiful beach promenade with its cafes and restaurants.

Facility

Cugat Residencial is a special house. This is not only because of its beautiful location by the sea, but also because of its conception as a modern Geriatric Scandinavian house. The leader, a dedicated geriatrician, took over his father’s home for the elderly 2 years ago. All floors can be reached via a lift. The building is equipped to have full disability accessibility. The 50 senior citizens have access to a very spacious common room for activities, a dining room, a gym and a terrace with raised beds for wheelchair users. The large common room has several seating islands and niches and is right by the entrance area. A private doctor’s office is also located in the building.

Zimmer

The facility has 50 senior-friendly apartments. Of course, these can also be equipped with their own furniture. All units have a disabled bathroom. A private air conditioning system ensures a pleasant indoor climate in the hot days. The apartments are available in various sizes and for the most part with their own balconies and views to the sea. Telephone, internet and an emergency call system are standard equipment. German TV is available.

Meals

An extensive culinary service is offered here, with five meals offered daily. The food is Spanish and can also be taken in the room.

Resident Structure

The 50 residents are mostly from Spain, but also from other European countries. The majority of seniors have dementia, but even active seniors spend their twilight years here.

Staff

A very versatile employment program provides the necessary activities and variety in everyday life. These include beach trips, swimming in the sea, strolling on the beach promenade, memory games, artistic design and exercise programs. The house is LGBTI certified and all staff members are qualified.
