Thailand, Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai is a small town in the midst of beautiful national parks in the north of Thailand. The facility, surrounded by greenery, is located 18 km northeast of Chiang Mai.

Built in 2014, this disability-friendly resort consists of several buildings and pavilions that are generously distributed in a tropical park. There are around 40 places for care and 40 places for active seniors. The apartments are located in 6 pavilion villas. In addition, there are several luxurious holiday villas in a separate part of the property. Family members can easily stay here during their visits. The main building houses the reception, the travel agency, a bakery, the souvenir shop and the administration, as well as the restaurant with an outdoor area. In the private vegetable garden salad and vegetables are organically grown. They supplement at least 50% of the food in the resort. A private well supplies magnetically treated drinking water. The spa building features a sauna, an infrared cabin, a hairdresser and a massage parlor. The outdoor area has many walking paths, a boules court, a ping-pong table, a darts court, a barbecue, a yoga pavilion and a wheelchair-accessible swimming pool with a sunbathing terrace.

Rooms and furnishing

All rooms are at least 30m² in size. They are furnished with a queen-size bed, a large wardrobe, a sideboard, a table and two chairs. All furniture is made of high-quality mango wood. Each room has a modern bathroom with a large shower area. The rooms can be single or double occupied, so it is also ideal for couples. Similarly, the design of the pavilions allows the connection of 3 apartments. The occupancy is very variable, and the price is negotiable. WIFI, an emergency call service, a TV with international TV channels are also provided.

An experienced gourmet cook prepares the dishes in German / Swiss style. For example, Zurich Geschnetzeltes is on the menu. An own bakery bakes bread and cake according to German recipes. In the shop cheese and sausage products can be bought even from home.

Resident Structure

The 80 residents are mostly from Switzerland, but also from Germany. Altogether, senior citizens from 8 countries live here. The facility is suitable for seniors with dementia and other conditions. The offer is varied.

Approximately 110 Thai employees take care of the well-being of the elderly. For the dementia afflicted alone, 30 nurses work for 12 senior citizens. Due to various cooperation agreements with nursing schools in Bangkok, nursing students regularly come to the institution for internships. Many stay there after training as employees, which speaks for the good quality of the facility. The management consists of 3 German speaking Swiss. They are also contact persons for the seniors.

The seniors are cared for by the Kit Wood care concept. The person-centred care corresponds to the European, modern care standard. The care is in English. German-speaking employees are occasionally available. An employment plan with daily events is offered. There is a travel agency where excursions can be booked for a fee. 2 excursions per week are included. There is also a daily shuttle service to Chiang Mai. Every morning there is yoga in the yoga pavilion. A Thai massage per week is also included. In the pavilions, the care program for the residential group takes place. The houses also cook and eat together. Every evening, the seniors gather to play the common boules and enjoy a glass of pastis or barbecue together.

Medical care

We have additional agreements with neighbouring clinics to guarantee complete medical care. There is always a doctor available if needed. The treatment costs are to be paid by yourself; with approximately 28 € per treatment.

A place costs between 1250 € for “Resident” and 4230 € for “permanent Care” monthly. There are 5 different supply categories. These depend on the care required. There are also price differences for single or double rooms. One can also rent villas with 96m ². The prices vary depending on the season. A short stay for “wintering” can also be booked. The German nursing and health insurance companies assume no costs in Thailand. With a permanent visa, the German tax and social security obligations are eliminated. With the expenses saved, medical services can be refinanced. Short-term care, winter stays, and family accommodation are also offered.
